We often see the application of wood veneer, and the previous article has also written about the classification and characteristics of veneer. Both wood and veneer are widely used in construction and interior decoration. However, my country's timber production cannot meet the needs of development and use. Bamboo, as a renewable material, assumes the primary responsibility of substitution.
Bamboo grows fast and has strong regeneration ability. It only takes 2 to 3 years for bamboo to become useful. It takes 50-100 years for hardwoods to mature, and 15-20 years for fast-growing softwoods. Moreover, the photosynthesis of bamboo is stronger than that of trees during the growth process, which can improve the air environment. Therefore, bamboo is more environmentally friendly than wood.
How is the bamboo veneer produced?
Bamboo veneer with different textures and colors can be produced according to different blanks and different processing methods. Basically include: natural color side pressure, natural color flat pressure, natural color double pressure, carbonized side pressure, carbonized flat pressure, carbonized double pressure, zebra pattern flat pressure, zebra pattern side pressure, etc.
1. Select Bamboo
Choose bamboo with a thickness of 7-9mm and a age of 4-6 years. Because the bamboo is 4-6 years old, the fiber strength has been formed. After drying, the finished product will not deform and has suitable hardness.
2. Split bamboo into strips
Cut the large-diameter moso bamboo into bamboo sections, cut off the outer nodes and cut them longitudinally into 2-4 pieces. In order to obtain bamboo slices with straightness that meets the requirements, it is best to use a saw with a movable workbench for processing and production.
3. Hot pressing
On the upper-pressure single-layer flat press, heat and pressure are applied to unfold the arc-shaped bamboo blocks into a plane.
4. Double-sided planer
After double-sided planing, it is processed into bamboo of equal thickness without green skin and yellow core.
5. Make block
The blocks are assembled by hand, and a variety of combinations can be matched according to requirements.
6. Carbonization or cold pressing
The principle of carbonization is to place bamboo chips in a high-temperature, high-humidity, and high-pressure environment to decompose and denature organic substances in the bamboo such as sugar, starch, and protein, so that fungi and other insects lose their source of nutrition, and at the same time attach to the bamboo. eggs and fungi are killed. After the bamboo is subjected to high temperature and high pressure, the bamboo fiber is coked into a bronze color similar to coffee color.
Cold pressing maintains the original color of bamboo to the greatest extent, and at the same time has the characteristics of dense tissue, fine texture, and mild touch.
7. Softening and planing
After the laminated bamboo block is softened, it is sliced into bamboo veneer. It can be applied to the veneer of various decorative panels, such as: theaters, hotels, electronic products, car interiors, etc.
What are the characteristics of bamboo skin?
1. Bamboo veneer is environmentally friendly
bamboo veneer is anti-ultraviolet, non-irradiated, antibacterial, and does not contain formaldehyde, ammonia, benzene and other harmful spirits in line with national environmental protection standards. Bamboo veneer formaldehyde conforms to the E0 standard, is low-carbon and environmentally friendly, and conforms to the energy-saving and environmental protection policies advocated by the state.
2. Very good stability
As a building material decorative veneer product, it is anti-aging, anti-moth, anti-corrosion and anti-mildew.
Bamboo veneer is extremely stable, and the color will not change after a long time of use.
3. Good physical properties, easy to process
It has the characteristics of high density, good toughness, no deformation, no cracking, wear resistance, corrosion resistance and durability.
4. Comfortable
Warm in winter and cool in summer, due to the natural characteristics of bamboo, its moisture absorption and heat absorption performance is higher than that of other woods, so sitting on it in hot summer can be cool and sweat-absorbing, and it can feel warm in winter. The light is soft and makes people feel comfortable.
5. Abundant resources
The bamboo used for bamboo veneer is produced rapidly, with a growth rate of up to 1m a day, and moso bamboo can be matured within 2 to 3 years.
